A 2020 advert from Zuru Pets advertising their new character Boppi the Llama.
Zuru Pets Alive Boppi the Llama
Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
Advert[]
The toy in question is shown on a table in a living room. A couple of children enter and activate her, causing her to start dancing, one of which involves shaking her rump in a manner similar to twerking. The children join in and start twerking as well. As the children dance, a mother arrives and joins in. Soon, the whole family gets in on it. The product is then displayed, followed by one last closeup of Boppi's rear.
Why It's Cursed[]
Right from the get-go, it's not and it NEVER WILL BE a good idea to have a toy character that shakes their booty/twerk, which is not suitable for the supposed target of children; it feels like a poor attempt at being relevant if anything. Parts of the ad itself, such as the parents' attempts at twerking/shaking and the closeups of Boppi's butt made the entire ad worse...
