JTs Chrysler Jeep Dodge - Deal-Tastic Me (2013, USA)

Starring Gru and The Minions, which appeared this ad as deformed creatures.

Deal-Tastic Me is a spoofing ad for a local car dealership based in Lexington, South Carolina named JT's Chrysler Jeep Dodge. It aired in June 2013 to tie in with the new release of the computer-animated film, Despicable Me 2.

Synopsis[]

The ad begins with Gru riding a rising platform in a factory-like setting, referencing the first film. He then says finally, "I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU - THE MOON!" parodying a scene where Gru is threatened to steal the moon.

After that is "DEAL-TASTIC ME", with 5 of his Minions that appear and dance throughout the ad.

Why It's Undealtastic Anyway?[]

The ad is just a terrible cash in on the sequel of the first Despicable Me movie. It is unknown if they even had the right to plagiarize the characters, but it's pretty certain they didn't. Heck, it even looks like if the Cartoon Network show MAD made a parody of Despicable Me, coincidentally, MAD ended the same year when this commercial aired.

Gru is played by the owner of the car insurance Himself, JT Gandolfo, the namesake of JT's Chrysler Jeep Dodge.

The Minions look like anthromorphic alien-shaped lemons and eggs with blue underwear, different goggles and babyish voices. People said that they're the "knockoff" counterparts of the original Minions. Besides, their voice actors in this ad is currently unknown.

One of The Minions include Stewart. Stewart is a fan-made Despicable Me character, due to his apperance being a cross between a frog, a crab and an anthromorphic alien-shaped lemon and egg.

Trivia[]

  • This wasn't the first time JT's dealership made a parody on a popular franchise. He also made spoofs on Harry Potter, The Simpsons, Ghostbusters, and a couple of others.
  • The commercial also gained attention when Youtuber Saberspark reacted to it. Saberspark later called the car dealership after he reacted, thanking JT Gandolfo for making the commercial.
  • The Gru model is designed to look like the Gru from the Despicable Me YTPs.
