Jill the Talking Doll was a toy released by Playmates in the 1980s.
Plots[]
Jill would start off her tape with a "motor warmup" in which she would move each motor for a few seconds before starting her introduction, "hi everybody my name is Jill and I'm a lot like you!", about 2 minutes later she ask you a question, "play games, make a snack, or have a talk? and depending on which you would choose she would reply to !, after your chosen segment she would go on to sing her song "do the jillectric" and talk for a few more minutes before saying "What a day, this has been so much fun, and the best part is , is that it never has to end, cause' were gonna be best friends... forever!", before starting her song "we can make it happen!" after that she claims "I need to cool off for a few minutes while my tape rewinds, and then we can be together again!, bye for now!" , as she would proceed to shut off, rewind her tape to the beginning and wait for your to re-insert the tape before repeating the same story to you, or if you had more tapes such as: "Jill goes to the mall" "jill babysits" "Jill's slumber party" , then you could hear a different story with different songs, each tape (including outfit) costed 39.99$ in 1987, Jill herself costed about (199.99$), which was about the cost of an Atari game system!, Jill was produced roughly for a month before being discontinued, but leftover stocks for her sold until 1989, where the rest that didn't sell would be discarded.
Why it was an 80's kid's worst nightmare[]
The toy itself was creepy due to the looks and proportions. If they made her cuter, then she would sell better.
