Kinder Surprise is a popular brand of chocolate eggs that contain mini figures/toys inside, manufactured by Italian confectionary brand Ferrero since 1974. This commercial aired in 1983 in the UK.
Synopsis[]
The advert takes place on a wall with an egg man in a farm-like sunset background (in reference to the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty), with him talking in gibberish. At first, he says "Kinder, yibol shakey!" and shakes a chocolate egg. Then, he says "Me unscrabbly!" and rips the chocolate egg open. He yells "Chocadooby!" and also yells "Double chocadooby!" when he opens the egg up. He claims something in the effect of "Bobswabbo" and opens the yellow capsule inside making a toy come out. He says "Toy!", and then "Yodel yum and choco scrum with muggy pupwubbo toys! Oh, grubbly!". Then he nods and gives us a creepy expression up close. The ad finally ends with him saying "Me scrobble now" and he then falls off the wall while going "Chucko-WEEEEEEEE!" Then lastly, an English narrator says, "Kinder Surprise from Fererro".
Why It's Cursed[]
The extremely cursed and disturbing mascot makes this commercial unsettling and creepy. The mascot is unsettling due to being an egg but having a human face with facial features such as a mouth, extremely small eyes and huge ears makes the character hard to look at that. The sudden zoom-in of his face didn't help.
Trivia[]
- This ad was eventually pulled from air after complaints of this scaring children.
- The Humpty in this commercial was also released as a Kinder toy.
