Synopsis[]

The ad begins with Snap, Crackle, and Pop all preparing for a stage performance. Then, in the style of a cheesy music video, they sing a funky song about the straw as they either eat them or use it to drink milk. Snap then talks about the straws. Shortly thereafter, there's a surprise appearance from Toucan Sam's nephews (Puey, Susey, and Louis) backstage to share a promotion for their straws.

Why It's Cursed[]

The lyrics to the song (stating that "you can dip, you can sip, and you can munch"), doubled with Snap and Crackle's very pleased expressions and funky soundtrack, makes the advert come off as rather sexual and uncomfortable with porn.

Trivia[]

As stated by writer George Longley, this commercial eventually spawned into the popular Singing with the Bars campaign in Canada that ran from 2009 to 2011, with a follow up called Dancing with the Bars in the following year. The collection of ads are a parody of American Idol, where viewers can go to the Kellogg’s website to vote a song from either Snap, Crackle or Pop that was featured in the ads, with them having the original, Rainbow or Strawberry (discontinued in 2010) Rice Krispies Squares (or Treats in the US) respectively . The majority of votes won came from Crackle, with Snap being the second one that has the most votes.
